PlayerPositivesNegatives
Leighton Vander Esch
Boise State
•6’4 / 255lbs / 4.6 forty time
•ATHLETIC beast
•Crushed The Combine
•Potential is huge (Bud Dupree)
•Former walk-on & 1 year starter (untapped potential)
•Tape is super bland. He does not dominate
•Has flashes, but does not read / go sideline to sideline / disengage from blockers / cover particularly great in any area (for a 1st rounder)
•NOT from Power 5 school (usually necessary for Steelers 1st round)
•Do not like him for Steelers (lack of development)
Tremaine Edmunds
Virginia Tech
•GIANT & Long Arms! 6’4! •ALIEN MAN
•But still thick (doesn’t look skinny)
•Very fast, explosive
•Good open field tackler
•Versatile: plays on edge too
•Sometimes caught looking in the backfield and play goes away from him
•Guesses (often poorly) against QB read-option
Roquan Smith
Georgia
•This Guy does not play the same game that the others do
•He is a man among boys
•Name it: he can do it.
•Domination in natl champ game vs Alabama — MUCH faster game than any one the other guys played in
Rashaan Evans
Alabama
•Great play diagnosing
•Always around ball
•Strong, good HITTER (leverage)
•Versatile (edge)
•Solid closing speed
•Good sideline to sideline
•Not mega fast or mega big
Fred Warner
BYU
•He is a total POTENTIAL guy
•Great, Versatile athlete
•Barely even played true ILB
•BYU had him outside the edge as an edge-setter / slot guy / cleanup man
